Top 3 Ways To Enjoy The Holidays
By David Ducharme.
Ever feel steamrolled by the holidays? Between Thanksgiving and Christmas you have to work double to make up for lost time at Thanksgiving and to free up time for Christmas, year end projects are wrapping up and always need unforeseen details, and you have to get ready for Christmas which always seems like more and more work every year. Here are 3 simple ways for you to actually enjoy this Holiday season and make sure that you get the proper “recharging” of your batteries.
- Find at least one person or one way to serve your family or community – “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” (Ghandi). More often than not, you’ll always find that the one who benefits most from the service rendered is YOU! Get into the holiday season and find yourself by serving.
- Find time for introspection – the Holiday season is a great time to analyze the past year, re-examine the direction you are heading, and to make goals to adjust your trajectory for the New Year. Socrates once said, “An unexamined life is not worth living”, so examine it!
- Spend time with family – one of the most common regrets at the end of life, particularly for males, is the wish to have spent more time with family and those close to you. Use this holiday season to be with those you love. If there’s a meaningful lesson to pulled from the commercialized media of the past few weeks it’s that life is fragile and we should cherish every moment we can with our loved ones.
Service, introspection, and family time – all keys to actually enjoying this holiday season!
